Short description:
This elegant mechanical pencil is turned from recycled mahogany wood. The fine, dark red wood of mahogany is hard and durable and feels soft in the hand.
Material:
Mahogany is a popular precious wood due to its deep color, grain, and hardness. Tropical wood does not normally come into my workshop - for moral reasons. However, I make exceptions if the wood has been recycled or salvaged, as in this case. The wood for this pen comes from old stair treads that were removed when my grandparents' house was remodeled. To keep it from the firewood pile, my grandparents' neighbor and close family friend stored the wood at his place for almost 35 years until I found it there. Now I use it for fine pens, knife handles, and more.
The mechanical pencil is equipped with a mechanism and a 0.7 mm lead from the German company Schneider .
