Short description:
Water stones are particularly suitable for sharpening knives. However, if you want to quickly sharpen a high-quality knife in the kitchen, as a trained chef I recommend using a ceramic sharpening rod. This model is equipped with high-quality, finely abrasive ceramic and is ideal for sharpening carbon steel. Compared to classic steels, it enables finer and more precise sharpening.
Over time, the ceramic rod can become clogged with fine metal dust, but it can be easily cleaned with a standard eraser, ensuring many years of use.
Material:
Gleditsia , also known as leatherwood, is a deciduous tree whose wood is valued for its hardness and special grain. The wood has a light, reddish-brown color, often interspersed with fine, darker stripes. It is relatively heavy and durable, so it is often used in furniture making and handicrafts. The wood for this sharpening rod comes from my father's sawmill in Serbia.
