Short description:
In order to achieve a darker color of the robinia, the wood for this click ballpoint pen was smoked. This creates a darker gold tone than normal robinia, which really highlights the grain.
Material:
The wood for this ballpoint pen comes from the robinia tree , which originally comes from North America but is now also widespread in Europe. The tree from which this object was made originally grew in a forest in Serbia. Robinia wood is known for its high density and therefore for the weight and stability of the products made from it.
When smoking the robinia, the wood is exposed to ammonia fumes. The tannic acid contained in the wood reacts to this, causing the wood to first turn olive green and then dark brown. If the robinia wood remains in the smoking box for a very long time, it can even turn black.
The click ballpoint pen is equipped with a mine the German company Schneider which can be easily replaced by yourself.
