Short description:
This wall object was made from elm wood and is part of a series in which I experiment with the controlled development of rust on raw steel and then combine it with selected woods. The rusting process is time-consuming and offers scope for artistic design. For this, I developed my own patina solution and then sealed the resulting rust with clear varnish.
To stabilize the object, small oak strips are attached to the back, as well as a suspension. The diameter is approximately 35.5 cm.
Material:
Elms, also known as elm or effe, are native to the temperate climates of the northern hemisphere. The wood is characterized by a high density, which makes it heavy and hard. It is particularly popular in the manufacture of musical instruments, furniture and other ornamental items.
