Upcycled plate made of mahogany

Short description:

This elegant and simple large plate is turned from recycled mahogany wood and treated with food-safe linseed oil varnish. It is suitable both as a decorative object and for serving food. With a diameter of approx. 29 cm and a height of approx. 1.5 cm, it offers a generous surface for a variety of uses.

Material:

Mahogany is a popular precious wood due to its deep color, grain, and hardness. Tropical wood does not normally come into my workshop - for moral reasons. However, I make exceptions if the wood has been recycled or salvaged, as in this case. The wood for this plate comes from old stair treads that were removed when my grandparents' house was remodeled. To keep it from the firewood pile, my grandparents' neighbor and close family friend stored the wood at his place for almost 35 years until I found it there. Now I use it for plates, fine pens, knife handles, and more.
