Short description :
This small pair of plates made from recycled Iroko wood is treated with food-safe linseed oil varnish and is suitable both as a decorative object and for serving food. They have a diameter of approx. 15 cm and a height of approx. 2 cm.
Material :
Iroko wood comes from West Africa and is a tropical wood. It is characterized by its durability and hardness and offers excellent resistance to the effects of weather. Iroko is therefore often used outdoors, for example for terraces, garden furniture or boat building. With its even grain and golden to dark brown coloring, it gives every object an attractive appearance.
Tropical wood doesn't usually come into my workshop - for moral reasons. However, I make exceptions if the wood has been recycled or rescued, as in this case. The wood for this pair of plates was discovered by a friend in a firewood pile. It's too special to go to waste, so I gave it a new life in the form of these plates.
