Short description:
This turned wall object gets its extraordinary character from the termite-infested cherry wood. It shows the typical reddish color and the fine grain of cherry wood. Turning this object was a challenge in terms of craftsmanship, as a great deal of sensitivity was required to preserve the special structure and achieve the desired shape.
To stabilize the object, small oak strips are attached to the back, as well as a suspension. The diameter is approximately 36 cm.
Material:
The cherry used to make this wall object came from my father's sawmill in Serbia. It was infested by termites and partially eaten away, hollowing out the core. The plank used for turning was close to the hollow core, which contributes to the unique structure of this object.
