Short description:

Box made of stump beech with a sunken lid and a handle made of Italian driftwood. The box has a height of approx. 8 cm and a diameter of approx. 8 cm.

Material:

I and my friend Lasse salvaged the beech wood used from a forest near Oldenburg. The special grain of the beech is the result of the wood's stagnation . This occurs when the wood lies on the forest floor for a long time (in this case at least two years) and is colonized by fungi that decompose it. If this process is interrupted at the right time by drying the wood, interesting patterns such as black lines and unique color nuances emerge.

The box has a handle made of driftwood that washed up in Italy and was collected during my studies. Due to the small size of the wood, the exact type cannot be determined. This means that the origin of the handle also remains a mystery.
