Short description:
This unique bowl made from regional walnut wood is characterized by a deep, dark and warm color. Small cracks were filled with epoxy resin to increase stability. With a diameter of approx. 40 cm and a height of approx. 11.5 cm, it is one of the largest bowls I have turned.
Material:
Walnut wood is rare and valuable and is mainly used in furniture and interior design. It is usually a by-product of nut production and, with its grey-brown to black-brown colours, is considered a regional alternative to tropical woods. The grain and pore structure of black walnut are often particularly pronounced.
The wood for this bowl comes from a very old walnut tree from Emden and was given to me by the previous owner when I bought my new lathe.
